A Second Life Dining Experience!

Hello everyone! I know...it's been a long time. Second Life and Real Life got a bit busy but I'm back!  And I want to share with you something that I got to do the other night. To celebrate a very special occasion (That is a story for another day), I got to participate in a very well orchestrated dining experience and it was so much fun.

Fête: The Restaurant Experience was by far my favorite dining experience I have had in Second Life. The staff was professional but very friendly. The food made my mouth water with each bite and the wine was top notch. Please check them out. You won't regret it. Great place for both intimate dinners and also larger gatherings. 

The Menu

For starters I went with the Almas Osetra which was expensive caviar and salmon. Mmmm why do expensive things always taste so good?

Next course was the soup. Mollusco Chowder to be exact. I cannot not have the clam chowder if I see it on the menu. It's my favorite! 

And for the salad portion of the meal I chose The fête House salad. It had lots of lettuce and tomatoes and it made me wish I could eat salads again in Real Life!

For the main meal portion I chose a dish that is bigger then my head as you can see. The Mare e Monti! It consists of a lobster tail, grilled lamb chops, shrimp scampi, broccoli with cheese sauce, Italian cous cous and lots of delicious garlic butter dipping sauce. I don't know how I was able to get home without rolling all the way!

And of course, the most important part of the meal...the Dessert!  They have an entire room filled with whatever decadent tastes you have! I could have died happily in that room.

The Fashionista

4-5 fresh raspberries

1½ oz Pineapple Vodka (any brand)

1oz lemon & lime cocktailor

1oz soda water

Garnish fresh pineapple and/or raspberry on a pick

1. Drop raspberries into a pint glass

2. Measure in vodka and lemon & lime cocktailor

3. Fill pint glass to the top with ice

4. Cap and shake vigorously to break up the berries

5. Strain into a martini glass

6. Float soda over cocktail

7. Garnish with fresh pineapple and/or raspberry on a pick

8. Serve in a martini glass

Cannarita

4 Fresh limes

Jar of honey

Several cups of ice cubes

Your newly infused medicated tequila (Click link to find out how)

Margarita glasses

High-powered blender

Grater

Salt, preferably sea salt (optional)

1. Place 1-2 cups of ice cubes in blender.

2. Scrape 4-8 tablespoons of honey (warming the honey slightly in the microwave can make it easier to pour and distribute) into the blender along with the ice.

3. Squeeze 2-3 large limes for their juice, and add the resulting juice to the mixture in the blender.

4, Free-pour in the alcohol to reach the level of strength you desire in your margarita. Blend sufficiently until smooth. Chill margarita glasses while mixing. Once they are chilled, remove from refrigerator and begin to garnish.

5. Dampen and dip the rims in salt if a salted rim is desired. Slice the fourth lime into thin half-slices, and put a small notch in the flesh of each slice so that it can be easily slipped over the rim of the glass.

6. Distribute margarita mixture into glasses and grate a small amount of lime zest over the top of each portion. Enjoy while they are still frosty!

Summer Is Coming....

 What is the best part about winter? When it ends of course! D'uh! We just have to get through that rainy, allergy inducing spring and then it'll be time for the SUMMER PARTY! 1½oz fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)

4oz sparkling mineral water

Lime wedge for garnish

Ice, for serving

Add the tequila and lime juice to highball glass and stir.  Fill with ice and top with sparkling water. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Peeptini

½oz Vanilla syrup, plus more for glass

1 tbsp pink sanding sugar

1 tbsp shredded coconut

1½ oz marshmallow vodka

1 oz heavy cream

½ oz grenadine

1 Peeps chick

Freeze a martini glass until cold, about 15 mins, if desired. Place syrup on a shallow plate. On a separate shallow plate, mix sanding sugar and coconut. Dip rim of glass into syrup, then into sugar mixture. 

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add vodka, cream, grenadine and vanilla syrup. Cover and vigorously shake until outside of shaker is very frosty, about 20 seconds. Strain cocktail into prepared glass. Garnish with Peeps chick.

Laissez Le Bons Temp Rouler! It's Mardi Gras Baby!!

 It's that time of the year again!  Mardi Gras!  Let the good times roll! New Orleans is my favorite city in the world! I got lucky to be able to visit there in 2010 and even though I didn't get to do Mardi Gras we were there about a week or so before so the excitement was there but not the crowds. I wanted to be able to see New Orleans. If you go to Mardi Gras that's really all you are able to do...which isn't bad...I just wanted to see the city for the first time.  She seduced me bad. We were there for 5 days....and yes I was drunk for most of it.  I mean come on...you can walk down the street at any time of the day or night with a drink in your hand...as long as it's in a to go cup. No glass bottles. Only plastic. I actually cried the day we left and to this day if I see it on TV or movies I feel the city. I really want to live there before I die. I also found my favorite drink which you will find below.  Don't forget to have pancakes today!

Today's Featured Drink:

Pat O'Brien's Hurricane

1oz Vodka - Any traditional vodka works

1oz Gin - This juniper berry liqueur plays well with others

2oz Gold Rum (or 1oz each of light and dark rum)

1oz Amaretto Amond Liqueur - This almond liqueur adds a fun, thing-that-makes-you-go-Mmm

1oz Triple Sec - A brand of basic orange liquer.

1 Tbsp Grenadine

Grapefruit juice + Pineapple juice, and/or passion fruit puree or juice

Simple syrup, optional, to taste

Hurricane glass or highball glass

Orange slices

Maraschino cherries, for garnish

Straws

1. Prepare the garnishes. Slice and orange in half and place the flat side down on a cutting board. Slice it into quarter-inch thick half-moons, one for each drink.

2. Fills the glasses with ice. Fill each hurricane glass or the tallest glass you have about halfway full of ice.

3. Mix the liquors, liqueurs and grenadine. Measure the vodka, gin, rum, amaretto, triple sec and grenadine into the hurricane glass(es). Stir to combine it all. Alternatively, you can shake the liquors and liqueurs in a cocktail shaker with ice until it frosts over. Then strain them into the glass and add the grenadine.

4. Top with juice. Fill the remaining space in the glass with passion fruit juice, or equal combinations of pineapple and grapefruit juice. Give another quick stir to blend the drink.

5. Garnish and serve. Garnish the hurricane with and orange slice and maraschino cherries. And for the real Pat O'Brien's New Orleans experience, serve and sip your hurricane through two tall straws.

Blueberry Purple Rain Martini

3 oz Blueberry Vodka (can substitute with regular as well)

1.5 oz Blue Curacao

1.5 oz Cranberry Juice

1.5 oz Pineapple Juice

3 tsp Grenadine

¼ cup Frozen or fresh blueberries for garnish

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with 1 cup ice.  Shake for around 30 seconds. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a handful of blueberries on top.

Poinsettia Cocktail

25ml triple sec

50ml cranberry juice

75ml champagne or prosecco

1 fresh bay leaf, to garnish

Chill the triple sec, cranberry juice, champagne and a martini glass in the fridge until cold.  Pour the triple sec, and cranberry juice into the chilled glass, then slowly top up with the champagne and garnish with the bay leaf.
